Camera Accessories

Most cameras need at least one accessory, whether it's a bag to keep your camera in or a neck strap to keep it safely off of the ground. If you are seriously into photography, then you will undoubtedly have well over a half dozen accessories in your very functional camera bag. If you are just starting out, here are a few accessories that you might want to consider purchasing along with your camera.

Lenses
While you camera may be great for taking standard snapshots, taking true photographs gets a bit more complicated. Having a variety of lenses to attach to your camera can help you get varied and creative photographs each time you pull out your camera. Lenses come in many styles and prices, and most of them are compatible with a range of cameras. There are zoom lenses that allow you to take a detailed photograph from far away, and there are also macro lenses, which make smaller images seem larger (these lenses are popularly used by nature photographers). This is just touching the tip of the iceberg when it comes to lens use, so when you visit an electronics store, be specific when describing what kind of photographs you'd like to take. Specialists will help you choose the lenses that will provide the best options when it comes to your photos and your camera.

Cables/Adapters
There are a plethora of cables and adapters that can be purchased to supplement almost any kind of camera. Attach your camera to a microscope or telescope and take amazing photos or attach your camera to the family television and relive a vacation through pictures. There are also cables that can attach a camera to a computer or to a portable printer so that you can upload your photos or print out quality pictures right from home.

Memory Cards
Aside from purchasing your camera, probably the next important thing to purchase will be a memory card. Most cameras can hold a certain number of images, but once that quota is filled you must either delete photos or refrain from taking new ones. A memory card can help solve this problem entirely. Many memory cards can hold well over 100 images, and some can hold up to 500. Memory cards can become especially handy while on vacation because often there is no place to store or print images while away from home.

Printers
Today many camera brands offer portable printer docks that produce photos on special photography paper without having to take your film or memory card to a store. Most printers will have a special area where you can attach you camera, scroll through images, and choose one to print. Most cameras print 4 X 6 photos, but some can expel both smaller and larger prints.

Again, this is just touching the tip of the iceberg when it comes to camera accessories. Bags, neck straps, tripods, and dozens of other accessories are available through electronics stores or over the Internet. When reading your camera's owner manual, see if it mentions any accessories that would be great compliments to your camera.
